Breakfasts of the world project

Getting a decent breakfast is something of an obsession in our family. We also like to try out recipes from different parts of the world. We came up with the “Breakfasts of the World” Project last year as a way of neatly bringing together both these ideas. Working from A to Z and using my son George’s Flags of the World poster as our guide we plan to eat our way through a breakfast from every country in the world.

Here’s the poster:

And this is the list of countries plus dates the breakfast was posted on the blog and a link to that post.

I can’t believe I found this! This coming week I too am starting a breakfast around the world tour. After several minutes of searching I found your site. Thanks for the share!

    • Hi Jamie,

I hope you have fun with your breakfasts project – it adds a little zing to weekend mornings. Have just eaten a Bosnian one so will be writing up soon. I’ll be visiting your blog to compare notes!

  • Carol Armour says:

What a wonderful website and project. I wish I’d thought of the breakfast idea. Definitely my favourite meal. Have just returned from 4 weeks in Costa Rica (gallo pinto) and 6 weeks in the States (Ranging from the inedible in motels to the completely fantastic – possibly the best ever- at a bed and breakfast in Port Townsend). Lived for 15 years in Malaysia so am looking forward to roti canai and nasi lemak!

    • Thanks for stopping by Carol – have made a note of your gallo pinto and other suggestions – I’m busy researching Brunei just at the moment, not so very different from Malaysia which sounds delicious!

  • Hi Jennifer, I too started a breakfast project for just my husband and myself last June! It’s so interesting to see someone else’s perspective on the subject. You are so ambitious to go through the world alphabetically! (I’ve just been cooking whatever country caught my eye that week…) And I admire your tenacity at finding the authentic ingredients. All the very best from another breakfastblogger.

    • Hi Shawna just visited your blog which is fascinating! I admire your discipline in having one breakfast per week – that was my ambition but there are some very long gaps when other commitments intervene. At my current rate of progress it will be another 10 years before I’m done…

  • Lois says:

    Wow! Amazing! And inspiring!
